The UK business development team at a globally recognised premium beer brand.
Founded in 1895 as a state-owned Czech national brewery, the company produces nearly two million hectolitres annually and exports to more than 80 countries. Their beers have won hundreds of international awards for quality.
The challenge
Business development in consumer brands is relationship-driven but data-heavy. The team juggles wholesaler relationships, competitor monitoring, prospect analysis and brand compliance – all while maintaining the quality standards that premium positioning demands.
They needed AI skills that would work within brand constraints. Generic outputs aren't acceptable when you're representing a 130-year-old brand with strict tone of voice guidelines. The team needed to understand not just how to use AI, but how to use it safely and accurately – spotting hallucinations before they reach clients.
Our approach
We delivered a bespoke AI Essentials workshop to 16 members of the UK business development team. The training was tailored to their specific context – sales conversations, wholesaler relationships, competitor analysis and brand management.
A core focus was AI safety and accuracy: understanding how to verify outputs, spot potential hallucinations, and recognise when AI-generated content might introduce bias. For a brand-sensitive team this was essential.
The results
Following training, each team member now saves 42 minutes per day using AI tools – that's over three hours per week, per person.
Across the 16-person team, this recovers 2,556 hours annually, worth £54,167 in productivity. The projected first-year ROI on training investment is 10x.
Crucially, 100% of attendees now feel confident spotting bias and hallucinations in AI outputs – essential for a brand-sensitive industry where accuracy matters.
92% said they would recommend the training to other consumer brands teams.
The AI use cases the team have built
The team developed AI applications relevant to their business development work:
Portfolio Performance Analyser
Identifies trends and outliers across the product portfolio to inform ranging and promotional decisions. Understanding which SKUs are performing where – and why – helps the team focus their efforts on the highest-potential opportunities.
Industry News Intelligence
Summarises bi-weekly industry news and flags relevant risks and opportunities in the drinks sector. Staying ahead of market movements without drowning in trade press.
Wholesaler Presentation Tool
Reviews and improves slide content for wholesaler meetings, ensuring consistency and impact. When you're presenting to key accounts, every slide needs to land.
Target Prospect Analyser
Scores potential accounts against Ideal Customer Profile criteria to prioritise outreach. Not all prospects are equal – this tool helps the team focus on the ones most likely to convert.
Competitor Product Analyser
Compares competitor offerings and positioning to inform sales conversations. Knowing what the competition is doing – and how to position against them – is fundamental to business development.
Brand Tone of Voice Checker
Ensures marketing content aligns with brand guidelines before publication. For a premium brand with strict standards, this is the final check that nothing goes out that shouldn't.
